Bangkok, Thailand is known for its local street food and entertainment like night market, massage, spa and many more. There is quite a number of famous street foods listed under Bib Gourmand and Nai Mong Hoi Thod is one of them. The restaurant is located slightly off Yaowarat, Chinatown Bangkok is well-received by online reviews because of their “Orh Luak” or we called it Oyster Omelette.

The stall has limited seating space and it easily noticeable by its red signage. We took a grab car from our hotel and it was less than 100 Thai Baht. So, my friend was quite surprised that Bangkok is famous with Oyster Omelette and usually we will only associate this dish in Malaysia, Singapore or Taiwan. But the orh luak here is surprisingly famous among the Chinese community here.

Their menu is simple with the choice of omelette mixed with either mussels or oysters. We wanted to order mussels but it is not available. So, we ordered the crispy and non-crispy version in small size priced at 100 Thai Baht each.

The crispy oyster omelette served with their sweet chilli sauce and it is indeed crispy as it looks. The omelette and oysters are cooked separately. Thus, this explains the plump oysters nicely served on top of the omelette. The oysters are prepared separately with garlic and oyster sauce to enhance the flavour of the dish. It is quite satisfying with the crispy bites from the omelette and rice flour.

Next is the non-crispy version which tasted quite similar with our local oyster omelette. The difference here is that their plump oysters are fresh and well-seasoned omelette combination tasted delish. Shiok with the price we paid!

I wouldn’t mind going back for more and it is indeed tasty as shared on online reviews. If you are around Chinatown area, drop by to try it. Pair it with their local beers would be a good idea!
